Lock down precautions
In these unprecedented times, hope everyone is following social distancing guidelines and more importantly not stepping outside the home unless dire necessary. Please do not take COVID-19 for granted and assume it is ok to go down for a walk.
Take care of your vehicles in these times :
1. Start your vehicle once a week for 4-5 mins to avoid battery discharge.
2. Disconnect all possible accessories from USB and 12v/cigarette socket and ones connected to battery directly.
3. Park vehicles indoor. If not possible make sure to dust them regularly.
4. Open engine bay and make sure no rodents are staying there
5. Clean interiors and run fan to clean interior air. Place cotton swabs with peppermint or tea tree oils to keep air odor free.
6. Take vehicles off hand brake and keep them in 1st gear or Park mode (automatic vehicles). Best would be to keep in Neutral (manual) and use wood block or bricks to stop vehicle roll. Reason : Engaging the handbrake over an extended period can result in the brake pads getting stuck to the discs or drums. Needless to say, if this happens, you'll be in some trouble the next time you drive the car.
7. Move vehicle forward and rear once a while to make sure tyres and coils are healthy.
